Navin Khanna

Navin Khanna is a partner of CP LLP and joined the firm’s corporate and commercial practice group in 2005.

Previously, Navin was a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where he practiced in the fields of corporate and commercial law, technology and media and entertainment law and civil litigation for over ten years.

Navin’s core practice involves advising purchasers and vendors of all sizes on private and public mergers and acquisitions transactions.

Navin also provides a broad range of clients with legal services on matters related to commercial agreements, financing, joint ventures, licensing, distribution agreements, proprietary rights protection, intellectual property strategy, privacy, the Internet, e-commerce and media production and distribution.

He has a degree in electrical engineering with a major in computer engineering, which allows him to provide special insight to clients and businesses involved with software, electronics, the Internet, e-commerce, mobile electronics, network communications, broadcasting and content distribution.

Prior to commencing his legal career, Navin worked as a design engineer for Motorola in the development of mobile and two-way radio wave propagation analysis systems and for Marconi plc on the development of high-end graphics display systems for military and commercial aircraft avionics.

Navin is a Registered Trade-mark Agent in Canada and a member of the Advocates Society, the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, the Licensing Executives Society, and the Canadian IT Law Association.

Navin completed his B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Ottawa and completed his LL.B. and LL.M. at Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1994.
